The Italian Air Force (Aeronautica Militare) has taken delivery of the final P.180 Avanti EVO from the first production batch under the original contract, marking a key milestone in the program's execution. This delivery completes the initial tranche of transport aircraft under the original procurement contract and further expands the platform's role within Italian military aviation operations.

The first batch forms part of the P.180 EVO+ contract, signed in 2019 with the Directorate of Aeronautical Armaments and Airworthiness (DAAA), which comprised nine aircraft. The initial order was split into five aircraft in a transport/medevac, and training configuration and four P.180s configured for NAVAIDS flight inspection missions. The transport-configured aircraft can be used for transport, medevac, as well as training. In Italian military service, the P.180 EVO+ is designated as the VC-180C.

The original contract has since been expanded through two amendments. In 2022, an additional six P.180 EVO+ aircraft were ordered for the Italian Army and Air Force. A further amendment in 2025 added five more aircraft for the Navy and the Carabinieri, broadening the platform's use across multiple branches of Italy's military and governmental services.

The aircraft delivered as the final unit of the first tranche will be operated by the Italian Air Force's Scuola Addestramento Trasporti Aerei (SATA - Air Transport Training School) at Pratica di Mare Air Base near Rome, where it will support advanced training and multi-crew operational preparation for Italian Air Force pilots.

The P.180 continues to serve as a versatile asset within Italy's governmental aviation fleet, with applications spanning (VIP) transport, training, flight inspection, and maritime patrol. Its adaptability has contributed to its continued selection across different service branches. In 2026, the special missions platform version of the P.180 was renamed the P.180 Mantide MMP.
