Piaggio Aerospace Hands Over Third P.180 Avanti to Guardia di Finanza
Piaggio Aerospace announces the delivery of a new P.180 Avanti EVO+ to the Guardia di Finanza (GdF), Italy’s law enforcement agency responsible for combating financial and economic crime, customs enforcement, and the protection of national economic interests.
The delivery was marked by a dedicated ceremony held at Piaggio Aerospace’s production campus in Villanova d’Albenga, which was attended by senior representatives of the Guardia di Finanza, including Commander General Lieutenant General Andrea De Gennaro, Chief of Staff Major General Giuseppe Arbore, and Brigadier General Adriano D’Elia, Head of the IV Department at the General Headquarters, alongside Piaggio Aerospace CEO Cristian Toninelli.
The addition of the new-generation Avanti EVO+ builds on the operational experience already gained by the Guardia di Finanza with its two Avanti II aircraft, and offers continuity within its fleet while introducing the latest evolution of the P.180 platform.
In parallel with the aircraft delivery, Piaggio Aerospace successfully completed transition training for both pilots and maintenance personnel, ensuring immediate operational readiness and a smooth introduction of the new aircraft into the existing GdF fleet.
‘’We are proud to announce the delivery of a new P.180 Avanti EVO+ to the Italian Guardia di Finanza,’’ said Andrea Siccardi, Head of Sales at Piaggio Aerospace ‘’This latest delivery stands as one of the best performances ever achieved for this type of project, a result that was made possible by the commitment, expertise, and teamwork of everyone involved.’’
The P.180 continues to serve as a versatile asset within Italy's governmental aviation fleet, with applications spanning (VIP) transport, training, flight inspection, and maritime patrol. Its adaptability has contributed to its continued selection across different service branches. In 2026, the special missions platform version of the P.180 was renamed the P.180 Mantide MMP.
