Piaggio Aerospace is celebrating a significant double milestone for the P.180 Avanti: in the year marking the aircraft’s 40th anniversary, the P.180 Avanti EVO has reached more than 40 aircraft sold since the first aircraft was delivered to a customer in 2015. It is a fitting coincidence for an aircraft whose history has been defined by continuous evolution.

Since its first flight in 1986, the P.180 has since evolved through several generations, with each iteration evolving through new technologies and systems. Much of this evolution has taken place beneath the aircraft’s distinctive exterior, while the fundamental design has remained consistent – a testament to the aerodynamic excellence of the original concept.

The Avanti EVO, introduced in 2015, represents the latest evolution of this concept, building on the aircraft’s characteristic three-lift-surface configuration and distinctive aerodynamic design with further improvements to the overall aircraft. More than 40 aircraft have now been sold since the first customer delivery, with the aircraft serving operators across business aviation, government, and special-mission roles, from California to Japan and from Asia to Africa.

The P.180 family has now surpassed 270 aircraft sold across all variants, reflecting the enduring appeal of a design that has remained distinctive throughout 40 years of evolution.

As Piaggio Aerospace marks four decades of the P.180, the company is further evolving its support offering for Avanti I, II, and EVO operators, ensuring customers benefit from comprehensive and reliable support throughout the aircraft’s lifecycle.

At the same time, Piaggio Aerospace is preparing for the Next chapter of the P.180 family with the development of the new Avanti NX, featuring a new flight deck, interior, and connectivity that will bring the P.180 into the Next era of technology and capabilities.

40 years, more than 40 Avanti EVOs sold, and the Next generation on the horizon: the P.180 story is still being written. As it enters its fifth decade, the P.180 looks to the future with the same spirit of innovation that has defined it from the beginning.
